A challenging race weekend filled with speed, high expectations, and unfortunately, some setbacks, lies behind the Formula Austria Race Academy driver.
The weekend in Vransko started well for Lucas Marx, with P1 and P3 positions in the free practice sessions. However, from Saturday afternoon onward, the engine became increasingly weak, and suddenly, more and more power was lacking.
After a disappointing qualifying session, several adjustments were made to the kart setup overnight in an attempt to get the problems under control.
In the first race, engine performance was again lacking, and the data analysis after the race confirmed this impression. Nevertheless, Marx fought like a lion and crossed the finish line in fifth place for RMC Austria (P6 CEZ). In the second race, he finished fourth for RMC Austria (P5 CEZ). For unexplained reasons, the engine performed better again in the final race, and Marx stormed to a third-place finish on the RMC Austria podium (P4 CEZ).
“When you can consistently run at the front in free practice and your performance in the race fluctuates wildly due to the engine, it’s obviously extremely frustrating,” the youngster analyzed.
Since the engines are drawn by lot for the participants, the “luck of the draw” factor is given far too much weight. “Unfortunately, numerous jump starts by the competition went unpunished, which makes a big difference in such a close championship,” added his father, Michael Marx.
However, Lucas Marx is currently in second place in both the RMC Austria and the Central European Zone standings and still has every chance of winning the title.
Preparations for the next race weekend in Ptuj, Slovenia, at the end of August are already in full swing.
