German F4 was first held in 2015 and discontinued by the ADAC after the 2022 season. Now it’s back, as the FIA-certified German Formula 4 Championship will offer young drivers a professional platform to enter the world of formula racing starting in 2027.
Organized by GEDLICH Racing, the series will primarily run as part of the DTM program and will also feature an unprecedented Gold Initiative with EUR 500,000 in prize money to support the next generation.
The inaugural season’s races, held alongside the DTM, Europe’s leading motorsport platform, and other events of the ADAC Racing Weekend, will give young talents the opportunity to showcase their skills throughout the season in front of large audiences, manufacturers, teams, and industry experts.
The championship is officially FIA-certified and licensed by the DMSB, making it part of the FIA’s international Formula Racing Young Drivers Programme. The drivers are competing for valuable FIA Super Licence points, taking the next step towards Formula Regional, FIA Formula 3, FIA Formula 2, and ultimately Formula 1.
The German Formula 4 Championship is introducing a EUR 500,000 gold prize money program to support outstanding drivers on their motorsport journey and offer teams greater flexibility in recruiting young talent. This initiative is made possible by championship partner Top G Racing, specialists in ethical gold production, and inspired the championship slogan: “Race for Gold.”
“It’s fantastic to have the most important entry-level category in formula racing back in Germany, too. Naturally, the series is also very important to the Academy and our partner Renauer Motorsport,” explained Harry Miltner, Director of the Formelaustria.at Race Academy.
