From 2015 to 2022, the ADAC organized Germany’s Formula 4 series, which produced top-class drivers such as current F1 World Championship leader Kimi Antonelli, as well as Oliver Bearman, Juri Vips or Theo Pourchaire.
Antonelli was even the last champion in 2022 before the series was discontinued due to low participation.
Rumors circulated in the paddock of the F4 CEZ Championship at the Slovakiaring race weekend that the junior series could return as early as 2027.
It is speculated that Gedlich Racing, which also organizes the Formula Winter Series, has contacted the ADAC to revive a Formula 4 championship in Germany. The series would most likely run as part of the DTM support program.
Formula 4 series are experiencing a particularly strong increase in participation, especially in Europe. The F4 Central European Zone alone, in which the Formelaustria Race Academy drivers are competing with Renauer Motorsport, has seen its grid nearly double from around 22 to 40 drivers between 2025 and 2026.
Neither Gedlich Racing nor the ADAC have yet commented on these rumors. However, numerous teams have already expressed their interest in racing in Germany should the championship come to live.
