BREAKING NEWS: Former F1 star Kevin Magnussen keynote speaker at the Formelaustria Race Academy Gala in Vienna

He’s tough on the track, often emotional in interviews – “Suck my balls” – but he’s also a loving family man and a highly engaging conversationalist. We’re talking about former Formula 1 driver Kevin Magnussen.

The most successful Danish F1 driver of all time will be the keynote speaker at the Formula Austria Race Academy Gala in Vienna at the end of February, where he will talk about his long career in Formula 1 and his current role as a factory driver for BMW in their Hypercar project.

As the Formula Renault 3.5 champion, Magnussen moved up to Formula 1 in 2014 and immediately secured a podium finish in his first Grand Prix at the season opener in Australia, taking second place behind winner Lewis Hamilton. Unfortunately, from his perspective, the McLaren wasn’t quite competitive enough, but he finished the year in 11th place overall.

For the 2015 season, Magnussen had to make way for newcomer Fernando Alonso, whom engine supplier Honda had requested, but made a comeback as a regular driver with Renault F1 just a year later. The following season, team principal Günther Steiner brought him to Haas F1, and “K-Mag” rewarded the South Tyrolean with four solid seasons – the highlight being 9th place in the 2018 championship.

After a year overseas, the now 33-year-old returned to Formula 1 with Haas in 2022 and caused the sensation of the year with his pole position at Interlagos. Last season, he was still on standby as a reserve driver for the American team, but he also competed in the World Endurance Championship and the IMSA series for the BMW M Hypercar Team.
